Planning: Camera Equipment

Planning: Camera Equipment

I have my own camera I could potentially use for the filming of our opening. The model is Samsung NX1100. However, this is more of a photography camera and would not film the opening to the standard we would want it to. This is due to the fact that it would pull out of focus at random times and would take a long time to put it back into focus this could be because I have had it for a long time and use it very often meaning its getting a little slow.

Here is a video of some footage we have taken on it as practice:

We realised that the photographs are much clearer however when videoing it adds a blue colour to the frame even though the lighting is perfect therefore we will not use this camera

Here is the quality of the photographs it takes:

Here is also evidence of us using the camera to practice and also the outcomes around our school:

This is another camera we have considered Canon 1100D

Here is the quality of the photographs it takes:

I have also looked at videos online to become more knowledgable with the camera and be confident when it comes to filming if this is the camera we decide to use.

The first few minutes of the introduction were vital as it taught me how to perform a focus pull on the camera. This will be something we will need to be familiar with for the filming process.

This was useful as it taught me how to balance out exposure if there is too much light in the frame, too much light in the frame will have an impact on the actors as if there is too much light on them then their reactions to events in the opening aren't that prominent as the exposure would hide all the shadows.

From all the things I have learned I decided to put them into use, here is a video of that evidence:

This clearly takes much better quality video and doesn't affect the colour of the clip. We also attempted on trying out a few things that will be seen in our opening such as chasing scenes, in and out of focus behind and object (pole) and also the holding hands scene.

Another camera we have considered is the JVC GY-HM200E

This is a professional camera used for filming it has a lot of settings that we don't really understand therefore will need to look online for information an tutorials on how to use it.

Here are the shots of the manual that will be useful for us during filming such as focus pull, adjusting the brightness to the weather etc.

Here is evidence of our filming footage:

Here is evidence of us using the cameras:

Another piece of equipment we will need is a tripod to keep the camera steady during the filming stages, here is an image of the tripod we will use.
